365 days ago Carl and I got to share a very special day with all of you – and even if you weren’t there with us physically, we carried you in our hearts.

A year has passed, almost in a blur really. And we both honestly forgot the actual date of our anniversary at one point… we’ve been celebrating our ‘first date‘ anniversary for 14 years, so this one will take a little getting used to. But today we’ll celebrate how far we’ve come, the commitment we made to one another a year ago and how happy we are to be on life’s journey together. So cheers to today, to tomorrow and always…

So guess what crossed our path today while we were hiking? Okay wait, this was literally IN our path… eeeeeeeeeeka

Never before have I seen a snake on any of the hikes I’ve done all these years out here in the desert. Crazy. Anybody know what kind this is? Besides super long and snakeish.

Our little ginger turns the big 2 + 1 today. Happy 21st Noble bear.

I am loving the Seventies Photoshop filter (downloadable for free!) from Pioneerwoman.com. This ‘seventies’ vibe feels so ethereal and dreamy to me – but with a little layer of timelessness too. If that’s possible. So – what better batch of photos to apply this to than our wedding pics, enjoy!…

It was this day fifteen years ago Carl and I both squeaked out – ‘I think I really like you’ over the phone. And I guess you could say that’s when things started getting pretty serious for us – or as serious as it can get for a 17 and 16 year old.  lol

I just came across a post about a bunch of lovely DIY (faux style) flowers – and one of them was almost exactly like the flowers I’d made for our centerpieces – using yarn pom poms!

They chose to use twigs for the stem instead of floral wire (like I did) and used just one color – soooo lovely.

You can see the full post from ReadyMade about modern DIY flowers here. (could be a really fun project right in time for Valentine’s day too)

How-to instructions on these little twig versions here.

And if you’d like to make pom pom blooms similar to mine, just use floral wire for the stem – which I bought in large batches online at Save-On-Crafts.com or you can find little 10-12 packs at Michaels or Hobby Lobby – perfect single bouquet size. I’d recommend 16 or 20 gauge to hold the weight of the poms. Then loop one end of the wire around the yarn’s slipnot (used to hold the poms together) and voila! you have a pom pom bloom!

You can also make your very own yarn pom poms. Just follow these easy instructions from helloknitty [PDF Download]. Or you can purchase a pom pom maker from Clover. And note to you all, I did NOT hand make all my yarn pom poms, yikes – I bought mine in batches from a seller on etsy. It was crazy enough hand assembling every wire bloom. Though I’m really excited to try it out now with all the scrap yarn I have leftover from knitting projects. What a neat way to customize with various types of yarn!

Goodness, there’s more congratulations and celebrations to be had – our very good friends Brian and Tammy got engaged over the Thanksgiving holiday! Congratulations to you guys, we couldn’t be happier for you!!!

So, there’s been some BIG changes recently – all work related.
I’m now freelance / contract based with design and marketing. Which means I’m venturing out solo style for the first time. (a wee bit scary and maybe a wee bit exciting too?) I’ll be sure to post details and information in a later post for any of you interested in finding out more, or maybe you wanna give me the ol bump and introduce to me to some of your peeps!

And – Carl recently changed jobs. He’s now working for another local company. Both situations happened within the last 3 weeks – so our boat has been a little rocked to say the least. But, this also explains why we haven’t had any new posts for a while. Once this flurry of change has settled a bit we hope to have more time to… well, post more.

Though we do want to take this little opportunity to send a HUGE congratulations to our friends Josh and Lauren – who just informed us (2 days ago) that they got hitched… 2 days ago! Super super happy for these guys! Much love to you Josh, Lauren and Derrick – wishing you many many happy days together!

4 Weeks In

And looking really really good!
